Meeting at the museum with Erwin Kessler
The National Art Museum of Romania invites you to a new "Meeting at the Museum", Monday, May 27, at 6 pm, with Erwin Kessler as guest.
Until recently Director of the Museum of Recent Art, Erwin Kessler is the author of memorable art exhibitions, from "Colours of the Avant-garde" in 2007 to "The Picasso Effect", opening in 2023. At the same time, Erwin Kessler has reformed the language of Romanian art criticism by resorting to sharp, non-protocolic expressions, deconstructing many of the "edifices" that seemed perennial in the history of Romanian art and putting contemporary art manifestations in a cruel light. Even if his articles sometimes provoked fierce polemics, his contribution was recorded as a necessary ferment and contrast factor in the territory of the local plastic arts.
In the discussion that will take place during the "Meeting at the museum" with Călin Stegerean, the general director of the National Museum of Art of Romania", aspects related to Mr. Kessler's vision of the museum environment and the means that make possible the journey from idea to realization, his perspective on contemporary artistic environments and the Romanian cultural environment as a whole will be addressed.
The program "Meeting at the museum" aims to mediate the public contact with personalities from various fields of culture on topics at the intersection of various artistic genres. The discussion will be free and dynamic, in which the audience will be able to intervene with questions addressed to the guest and the moderator.
The event will take place on the ground floor of the National Gallery, Calea Victoriei 49-53.
Access is based on a 12 lei ticket.
