The National Art Museum of Romania continues the series of BookHub meetings at MNAR. Readings with Nona Rapotan, on Saturday, 25 May 2024, at 4 pm, in the Elena and Anastase Simu Collection Room, at the Museum of Art Collections (Calea Victoriei no. 111). This time, the guest will be writer and journalist Daniela Ulieriu.

During her time living on the African continent, Daniela Ulieriu participated in various traditional ceremonies and rituals specific to the Bamiléké ethnic group in Central Africa, and the dialogue with Nona Rapotan will focus on these particular experiences, with a focus on the cultural differences between Africa and Europe in the broader context of accelerated globalisation.

She coordinated two major anthropological studies during her years in Cameroon: "Perles. Couleurs d'Afrique", 2010, resulting in an art book awarded the French Publishers Association Prize for the most beautiful book and "Ndop. Etoffes des cours royales et sociétés secrètes du Cameroun", 2020. In 2022 she published the book "The Princess and the Pearl" with Arthur Publishing, an African-inspired story. Together with the writer Doina Popescu, she has written two novels: "Cvartet", 2021 and "Perna cu fluturi", 2020. She has also written a book on culinary anthropology called "Trei secole de gastronomie românească", 2018. In 2024, she published a book of short prose "Regele din Bissap", inspired by her years spent in the Republic of Cameroon, Africa.
