217,679 people visited the permanent and temporary exhibitions of the National Museum of Art of Romania in 2023. This is an absolute record surpassing the one from 2022 when over 151,000 visitors were recorded. The months with peak attendance, with over 20,000 visitors, are May – 20,838, August – 23,634, September – 21,705, December – 24,369.

Considering that, besides the permanent exhibitions, the exhibitions in 2023 such as "Nostalgia. Memory. Rediscovery. The European Landscape and Ruin in the 16th-19th Centuries", "M.H. Maxy - From Avant-garde to Socialism", "Nicolae Grigorescu - Painter of the Romanian Ethos", "The Group of Four (1925 – 1934): Oscar Han, Ștefan Dimitrescu, Nicolae Tonitza, and Francisc Șirato", "Romulus Ladea – Sculpture", "The Unseen Part of the Liana and Dan Nasta Collection: Religious and Secular Objects" were made with works from the national heritage under the administration of MNAR, we can affirm that it is this factor that has led to a record public influx.

A good portion of the exhibited pieces underwent restoration operations in the museum's specialized laboratories, and the exhibitions benefited from museum presentation in line with best practices in the field, thanks to exhibition scenography projects implemented by the museum's technicians. Each of the temporary exhibitions presented information in both Romanian and English.

The National Museum of Art of Romania, through its collaborations with museums across the country, aims to offer them the opportunity to present their heritage in landmark exhibitions in the capital city, for a cultivated and demanding audience. In this regard, MNAR has collaborated with the Village Museum "Dimitrie Gusti" National Museum, the Bucharest Municipality Museum, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, the Arad Museum Complex, the "Moldova" Iași National Museum Complex, the Brăila "Carol I" Museum, the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, the Craiova Art Museum, the Mureș County Museum, the Prahova County Art Museum "Ion Ionescu Quintus," the Timișoara National Art Museum, the Brașov Art Museum, the Brukenthal National Museum, the Banat National Museum, the Oradea Country Cris Museum, the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore "Constantin Brăiloiu," the "Gavrilă Simion" Eco-Museum Research Institute Tulcea.

On this occasion, we thank the public and collaborators for the sustained interest shown and promise future exhibitions of equal value!
