The National Art Museum of Romania in partnership with the Bonte Foundation organizes, between August 18 and September 29, 2023, the competition for the award of the Bonte Scholarship for the research of the artistic heritage of MNAR.
Now in its second edition, the scholarship is aimed at researchers with ongoing or completed doctoral studies in art history and theory, aesthetics and interdisciplinary studies. The scholarship, in the amount of one thousand gross euros per month, for one year, will be awarded by competition to a project dedicated to the research of the artistic heritage of MNAR.
The files will be submitted between August 18 and September 29, 2023; the evaluation results will be published on October 16, 2023; the interviews will take place at the headquarters or online between October 16-27, 2023; the announcement of the winner of the Bonte Scholarship for the research of MNAR's mobile artistic heritage on the museum's website will be made on October 30, 2023. The scholarship will be awarded between November 1, 2023 and October 31, 2024.
The scholarship is part of the strategic instruments designed by MNAR to support specialized research in Romania within the museum. This gives the winner the opportunity to have access, with specialist assistance, to the artistic and documentary heritage held by the museum, to benefit from scientific information and to use, free of charge, in scientific works, images of the researched works.
The Bonte Scholarship joins the Micaela Eleutheriade Scholarship, offered by MNAR in supporting artistic and theoretical research in the visual arts. The Bonte Foundation was established by Alain Bonte, a businessman of French origin. The foundation has been collaborating with MNAR since 2017, supporting the return to the museum of two important works of art in the National Gallery. Alain Bonte is part of the leadership of the Association of Friends of the National Art Museum of Romania and was decorated with the National Order "For Merit" in the rank of Commander by the President of Romania, Klaus-Werner Iohannis, for his contributions to the promotion of Romania's economic and cultural interests in Portugal and in the European space.
"We offer, together with the Bonte Foundation, the possibility of generous funding for the research of our museum's heritage, for the duration of one calendar year, which we hope will contribute to increasing interest in the extraordinary national artistic treasure that the National Art Museum of Romania holds" - appreciates Călin Stegerean , general director of MNAR.
"We are pleased to be with the National Art Museum of Romania in this effort to support the research of the national heritage" - says Alain Bonte, president of the Bonte Foundation.
