Through this exhibition, the National Museum of Art of Romania aims to join a wider approach, national and international, to raise public awareness about the problematic relationship of contemporary man with the animal world.
This will provide an opportunity for reflections on human interference with the animal kingdom by touching on mythological, philosophical, emotional aspects with the central idea of the need to reconsider violent actions on animals.
The painter Felix Aftene articulates an artistic discourse, often in the first person, in representations that include even under fictious identities, attentive to the implications of treating the animal only as a food source, accessory of violence in society, trophy, an ephemeral consumer product, like so many others, with the ignorance and refusal of its condition of expression of the wonder of the living in its diversity.
Such an approach is more than welcome in the conditions of continuous degradation of the natural environment of the planet with the most dramatic consequences on daily life. An opportunity to meditate and reconsider our attitude and that of our fellow human beings.

FELIX AFTENE lives and works in Iași but he has a sustained artistic activity on the national and international scene in various media - painting, sculpture, mural painting, new media. In 1996, he graduated as head of promotion from the "George Enescu" Academy of Arts in Iași, Mural Painting section. Since 2013 he is president of the Iași Branch of the Union of Visual Artists in Romania (UAP). In 2016 he obtained his doctorate in visual arts at the National University of Arts "George Enescu" in Iasi with a work dedicated to contemporary visual arts. He has had over 30 personal exhibitions in museums or international art galleries in the country and Austria, USA, Great Britain, Greece, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Denmark, Hungary, Israel, Moldova, etc. In 2016, he was awarded the National Prize for Painting of the UAP and received over 30 other awards and distinctions for his artistic activity nationally and internationally.
