The National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR) is taking part for the first time in Art Safari, participating with 11 paintings by Samuel Mützner (1884-1959). The works of art will be included in the exhibition dedicated to the artist in the Museum Pavilion Samuel Mützner. Following Claude Monet.
A Self-portrait that has become one of the artist’s stylistic reference points is among the works that open the exhibition circuit. Painted in oil on cardboard, Mützner's self-portrait was probably made in 1945 and is distinguished by a balanced composition, a precise drawing and a chromatic based on earth colors: yellow, ocher and natural shades.
The other 10 works from the MNAR’s patrimony that you will be able to admire at Art Safari, along with other works by Mützner coming from museum and private collections are: Landscape from Japan (1914), Girl Inside (1929), Girl in Red (1942) , Bathing in the Sea (1939), Courtyard in Seville (1924), In the Garden [1935-1940], Landscape (1927), Woman Sleeping in an Armchair (1946), Flower Garden [1940], A Square in Tulcea [1940-1945 ].
„It is for the first time that we join the other museums in supporting this salutary initiative made under the Art Safari name, aiming to offer a better understanding and appreciation of the work of Romanian artists” says Călin Stegerean, General Manager at the MNAR.
