Portrait of a Child

On the occasion of International Children's Day, the National Museum of Art of Romania and the organization Save the Children are organizing a special program.

From May 31 to June 30

Auditorium Hall lobby, Str. Știrbei Vodă no. 1.

On the occasion of International Children's Day, the National Museum of Art of Romania and the organization Save the Children are organizing a special program dedicated to this event.

Thus, on May 30, 2024, primary school children will participate in a painting workshop themed "Child’s Portrait," which will also include a guided tour of the European Art Gallery. At the end of the workshop, the artworks created will be part of an exhibition held in the Auditorium Hall lobby, Str. Știrbei Vodă no. 1, from May 31 to June 30, 2024.

This project is part of the collaboration with Save the Children, which began in 2021 and involves organizing educational activities at the museum for children included in the programs of this organization.

Over the three years of collaboration, 1,500 children have taken part in creative workshops such as Portrait, The Bird Hidden in Stone – a Brâncuși workshop, Spanish Fashion, Neagoe Basarab, Form and Color. Additionally, during the current year, over 200 children have benefited from interactive visits and educational workshops organized at MNAR.

For all these children, their experiences at MNAR were their first opportunities to step into the world of art and express their creativity in a new field that immediately captivated them.

The event organized for International Children’s Day aims to showcase the creations of these children and highlight the immense educational and creative potential that the National Museum of Art of Romania has to offer.
